Salvete to all the AISHE members in the "tenth" month: December, 2002!
Theme of the Month:
... o OO o ... o OO o ... o OO o ... o OO o ... o OO o ...
... o OO o ... Theme of the Month: Questioning ... o OO o ...
... o OO o ... o OO o ... o OO o ... o OO o ... o OO o ...
I met a man on the train "tonite"
On the way home from work.
He accosted me forthrightly
and spoke of a poet he liked.
The name he said was Service
A name that I did not know.
I got home to google
And pass on to you what I know:
http://www.inch.com/~kdka/public_html/r~service.html
:)
Why did this "Canadian" poet have such an impact on
him, the man born in 1940, ex-Louvain, whom I met on the train?
:)
I read recently in the Times Higher Education Supplement
on the importance of asking the "right" questions; it was a feature
article by a "famous" chemist, I think. I have lost the reference.
Can anyone help?
And so I thought that, before it is too late,
that the theme of the month might be "questioning".
So here it goes out to AISHE just as we
in the Northern Hemisphere "gloat" with joy
at the passing of the Winter Solstice
and welcome the growing length of days
again and bask in the warming sun :)
Now let me leave a question to be answered:
(a sort of Solstice celebratory quiz)
Sun-day, Moon-day, and Saturn-day are the only 3
days of the week in English which still show their
attachments to "planets". Why did they survive
and the other 4 days remain fixedly "Norse"?
A web address is sought in response :)
