Topics

AISHE welcomes the submission of abstracts which address the key conference theme of creating and sustaining an effective learning environment. Sub themes which could be addressed include:

• International perspectives
• Discipline specific perspectives
• Relationship between policy and practice
• Motivating effective learning
• Evaluating effectiveness in learning and teaching
• Exploring possible tensions between traditional learning environments and diverse learners
• Detailing changes in current practices in learning, teaching and assessment including e-learning and curriculum design
• Holistic student support

The emphasis should be on reflection and evaluation rather than merely on describing what is happening.

Presentation Format

Presentations of papers at the conference will be assigned by the programme committee to one of two formats:

• Oral/seminar: Oral presentation of research, evaluation, policy or practice with the emphasis on drawing out lessons for others and involving participants in engaging with your findings.
• Poster: Posters will be displayed throughout the conference; there will be an assigned programme session specifically for participant discussion with poster presenters.

Abstract Submission

The deadline for abstract submission was 24th April 2006, and submission is now closed.

Refereeing Process

Each abstract will be reviewed for acceptance at the conference against the following criteria:

• Relevance to the conference theme
• Clarity and coherence
• Reflection and evaluation of educational values, practice and or/policy
• Contribution to scholarship and evaluation of change in higher education

Acceptance of Abstract

You will be advised as to whether or not your Abstract has been accepted by 15th May 2006.

The programme committee will assign submissions to either oral or poster format presentation, in the light of overall constraints on the programme schedule.

Authors of all accepted submissions (regardless of presentation format) are invited to prepare a full paper for inclusion in the (on-line) conference proceedings. The paper should be 3000-4000 words. Note that at least one of the authors must be register for full conference attendence in order for the paper to be included in the conference programme and proceedings.
