Topics
AISHE welcomes proposals, in abstract form, for conference
papers and workshops on a variety of topics such as:
- exploring or contesting the present state of knowledge of
higher education in these islands
- examining higher education values
- detailing changes in current practices in learning,
teaching and assessment
- evaluating completed or `in progress' developments
- analysing the links between values and change in
policy
- presenting innovative strategies in teaching or learning in
higher education.
The emphasis of proposals should be on reflection and
evaluation rather than merely on describing what is happening.
Proposals encouraging active participation by delegates will be
given preference.
Session Format
Proposals must specify a preferred session format, either:
- Papers: (25 minutes plus 20 minutes of
questions and discussion) giving an account of research,
evaluation, policy or practice with the emphasis on drawing out
lessons for others and involving participants in engaging with
your findings.
- Workshops: (45 or 90 minutes) with an
emphasis on high levels of participation.
Abstract Submission
The deadline for abstract
submission has now passed, and submission is closed.
Refereeing Process
Each proposal will be reviewed for acceptance at the
conference against the following criteria:
- Relevance to the conference theme
- Clarity and coherence of the proposal
- Reflection and evaluation of educational values, practice
and or/policy
- Contribution to scholarship and evaluation of change in
higher education
- Clear opportunities for participants to actively engage in
the session and, particularly in workshops, to reflect on
transferability to their own practice
Acceptance of Abstract
You will be advised as to whether or not your Abstract has
been accepted by 7th May 2004. On acceptance, you will then need
to prepare a full paper for inclusion in the on-line conference
proceedings. The paper should be 3000-4000 words, and will be due
by 4th June 2004. Note that at least one of the named
proposers/authors must be registered by that date in order for
the paper/session to be included in the conference.
