AISHE Regional Seminar: Evaluating Teaching

Waterford Institute of Technology, June 9th, 2003

This workshop event will conducted by Dr. John Panther of the Staff Development Unit, TCD, and will be held in the Waterford Institute of Technology (main College Campus, Cork Rd. Waterford) on Monday 9 June from 11.00 to 13.00. The workshop is free to participants and lunch will be provided.

The workshop will cover the following issues:

• Reasons for evaluating teaching
• Evaluation and the learning environment (institutions, departments and individuals)
• Purposes of evaluation
• Teaching roles to be evaluated.
• Methodologies and sources of evidence
• Student surveys - issues and design
• Teaching portfolios.
